Biography

Rashida Leah Jones has recently shot to fame after appearing on the Hit US TV show ‘The Office’ as Karen Filippeli. She is an extremely talented actress, writer, model and musician and can turn her hand to most things entertainment related.

Rashida was born on February 25th 1976 in Los Angeles, California and is the daughter of actress Peggy Lipton and the well known musician Quincy Jones, her parents chose the name Rashida because is it said to mean ‘Rightly Guided’ in Arabic.
She was educated at Buckley School, California and made the national honour society.
Rashida grew up with a strong musical influence from her father and became an extremely talented singer and pianist with a great ear for music and a photographic memory helping her to learn a song very quickly.

When Rashida was just 10 years old her parents divorced and she went to live with her mother until leaving to attend Harvard University, she had every intent of becoming a lawyer until losing interest after watching the OJ Simpson trial. She graduated from Harvard in 1997 and found herself drawn to the world of acting and theatre as a hobby. Gradually she began to take on more theatre roles and eventually appeared in several movies including ‘Little Black Book’ alongside actress Brittany Murphy. She had a few small TV show roles before snapping up the part of ‘Karen’ in ‘The Office’ which has shot her to the forefront of the public eye.

Rashida has worked as a successful model, working for ‘The Gap’ ‘Triple 5 Soul’ and appearing in magazines such as ‘In Style’ and ‘O magazine’. She is a talented writer and composer and continues to pursue these areas of her career as well as working on her acting. We definitely hope to see much more of Rashida on our screens in the future.
